The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have found themselves in the middle of a fresh controversy after reports surfaced suggesting that franchise officials, including team owner Sanjiv Goenka, were absent from the post-match presentation following their defeat to Punjab Kings on April 1 in Lucknow. The absence raised eyebrows, with many questioning the intent behind skipping such an important part of matchday proceedings.

Multiple sources have provided varying accounts of what transpired. While some suggest that an official was eventually sent for the presentation, others point out that no clear arrangement had been made for any representative to appear on stage. Interestingly, all key LSG officials, including Goenka, were reportedly present at the venue during the match.

“Mr. Goenka was on the field, and there was no such arrangement at all,” an LSG official was quoted as saying by News18, brushing off suggestions of intentional avoidance. However, another source offered a different version, stating that Goenka’s name was initially listed among the guests scheduled to appear but was later withdrawn, prompting the need for a replacement official.

“If that’s the case, LSG should have still deputed one of their top franchise members for the post-match duties,” the source added, highlighting the lack of protocol followed.

This episode comes at a time when tensions are already running high within the LSG camp. Visuals from recent matches have shown animated discussions between the owner and team management, adding to the perception of discontent.

On the field, LSG have had a rocky start to IPL 2025, winning just one of their first three matches. Their bowling attack appears undercooked, with a lack of seasoned pacers, and the inconsistent form of key players like Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram, and David Miller only compounds their woes. With a tough clash against Mumbai Indians up next, the pressure is mounting.
