Lungi Ngidi Comes Up With A Reply For Netflix’s Lungi Dance Tweet

Recently, Netflix India took to Twitter and asked a query “for a friend” about the hit song “Lungi Dance” from the movie “Chennai Express”, the streaming service got a surprise response from South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi. His name sounds similar to the popular South Indian attire ‘lungi’ and fans have several times asked him whether he has seen or danced to the song ‘Lungi Dance’.

Netflix’s tweet read: “How many times do you hear ‘Lungi Dance’ in the chorus of Lungi Dance? Asking for a friend.” Ngidi, who plies his trade for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), responded, saying “14”. “A super answer from a super king,” Netflix tweeted in response.

Ngidi’s response drew a lot of laughs on Twitter. One user wrote “the expert answered! Can’t contest that!!!!!!” Another user tweeted “Legend spotted”.

“This man knows his songs,” tweeted another user. One user corrected Ngidi, saying “Also very sorry to say but it’s 16”.

This is not Ngidi’s first tryst with the song. Fans had immediately associated him with the song when he signed up for CSK in 2018. “Just listened to the #LungiDance song loving it already,” he had tweeted soon after.

Ngidi missed the IPL this year due to side strain. He also couldn’t play in more than four matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 because of the injury and as he scalped seven wickets in those game. However, irrespective of his irregular play, Ngidi has gained quite a fan following on the social media.

Ngidi made his Test debut against India in January 2018 and he is currently plying his trade for South Africa’s tour of India. While he is included in South Africa’s T20 squad, he will also be playing the Test series. South Africa will take on India in three Test matches in October after the three-match T20 series is concluded. The Test series, which starts on October 2, will see matches being played at Vishakhapatnam, Pune, and Ranchi.
