During the second T20I of Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2012, Shahid Afridi had put in a ‘Man of the Match’ performance to win the match for his team. Afridi performed well in both the innings to seal victory for Pakistan.

Having lost the first T20I by 37 runs at the same venue, Mohammad Hafeez, the then Pakistani captain, won the toss and chose to bat. Pakistani batsmen failed to make any impact during their innings and ended up scoring 122-6 in 20 overs. Afridi scored an unbeaten 52 (33) with the help of five fours and a six. With bowling figures of 4-1-13-2, Nuwan Kulasekara was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Sri Lankan batsmen failed to capitalise on the good work done by their bowlers as they ended up scoring 991- in 19.2 overs. Chamara Kapugedera, who came in to bat at No. 4, top-scored with 19 (23), including two fours and a six. For Pakistan, Mohammad Sami (3), Yasir Arafat (3), Shahid Afridi (2), Sohail Tanvir (1) and Saeed Ajmal (1) were amongst the wickets.
