Samit Dravid is steadily building an identity of his own, even as fans continue to spot familiar traits of his legendary father, Rahul Dravid, in his batting. Since his Maharaja Trophy debut, the youngster’s compact stance, balance at the crease and clean strokeplay have gone viral on social media, with many admirers comparing his technique to Rahul’s and even calling him the “Junior Wall.”

The 20-year-old produced another composed effort in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2026, scoring a brisk 32 off 23 balls for Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters in a thrilling two-run win over Hubli Tigers at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground on Wednesday, July 1. His knock helped the Blasters reach 203 for 7 before they held Hubli Tigers to 201 for 7 in a tense finish.
Batting in the middle order, Samit showed a neat blend of patience and intent. He struck six boundaries during his stay and kept the innings moving at a crucial stage, even though Nischith Rao ultimately walked away with the Player of the Match award. Samit’s contribution, however, was central to Bengaluru’s ability to cross the 200-run mark and set up the victory.

In seven matches so far, Samit has batted in four innings and scored 112 runs at an average of 28 with a strike rate of 138.27. His best score of 39 came against Coastal Kings Mangaluru at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground in Mysore, another innings that underlined his growing comfort in competitive T20 cricket.
Being the son of one of India’s greatest Test batters naturally brings added attention, but Samit has handled the spotlight with remarkable maturity. He has continued to progress through Karnataka’s age-group system and earned his place through consistent performances rather than reputation alone.

While his technique draws obvious comparisons with Rahul Dravid, Samit’s game appears well suited to modern white-ball cricket. He has shown the ability to play positive shots, rotate strike smartly and accelerate when the situation demands, all while retaining the composure that has long been associated with the Dravid name.
The Maharaja Trophy, which replaced the Karnataka Premier League in 2022, has become one of the most important domestic T20 platforms in India. For young cricketers like Samit, it offers a valuable stage to handle pressure, test their skills and catch the eye of IPL scouts and selectors.
