The latest retro jersey for Team India for the ongoing limited-overs series has been the talk of the town. The Men in Blue took to the field after a huge gap of more than 8 months in a new shade of blue and the cricket fraternity has been applauding it ever since. The new jersey has a darker shade of blue as the team shifted from the conventional sky blue color that it has been wearing in recent years.

The jersey is also drawing a comparison with the 1992 World Cup and going by the reactions on social media, one can say that the cricketing world is applauding the team wearing the retro-themed kit. And one can also say that the jersey’s popularity is not limited to the cricket world. USA’s Major League Baseball has given the Indian team as well as their fans a pleasant surprise by giving the new jersey ‘a baseball twist’.

On Monday, they posted a picture of the India captain, Virat Kohli wearing the same jersey but with the ‘baseball twist’ on their official Facebook page. The batting superstar was holding a baseball in his hand in addition to wearing the full kit and was looking dashing.

Team India’s journey in the new jersey witnessed a rough start as they started the Australia tour to a couple of losses in the three-match ODI series. However, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the men in blue made a comeback in style after those losses. On Sunday, India won the second T20I and managed to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. It was also India’s third consecutive win on the tour after those early couple of losses.

In the high-scoring game, India proved their batting might by chasing down 195 with two balls to spare. After Shikhar Dhawan (52) and Kohli (40) laid the foundation for the big chase, Hardik Pandya finished the game in style. The hard-hitting all-rounder amassed 42 from just 22 balls. He scored the 14 runs needed in the final over in just 4 balls with the help of two sixes.
