Suthar struck with the first ball of the eighth over of Sri Lanka’s first innings. The left-arm spinner bowled a good-length delivery around off stump that turned away from the right-hander. Chandimal’s right glove made slight contact with the ball, allowing wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant to complete a sharp catch behind the stumps.

Chandimal’s stay at the crease lasted only 16 balls, with the experienced batter scoring four runs. His dismissal left Sri Lanka struggling at 27/2 after 7.1 overs.
