Manjrekar reacts after Commentary Axe

Former Indian batsman turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was recently dropped from the commentary panel by the BCCI. Since the axe, Manjrekar has acted professionally and accepted the decision taken by BCCI. He also has described the privilege he felt while commentating on the games.

The BCCI decided to exclude the former Indian batsman form the commentary panel for the recently canceled ODI series between India and South Africa. Manjrekar commented on the decision taken by BCCI, acting all professional.

Manjrekar has been one of the most famous and recognizable voices behind the mike in the Indian commentary community. He was involved in various controversies over the last year for his views expressed on the air.

Speaking with the media, Sanjay said, “I have always considered commentary as a great privilege, but never an entitlement,” the 54-year-old wrote on his twitter handle. It is up to my employers whether they choose to have me or not & I will always respect that. Maybe BCCI has not been happy with my performance of late. I accept that as a professional.”

Sanjay was a regular seasoned campaigner for the Indian national team featuring 37 test matches and 74 ODI for the boys in Blue. His recent comments on the Saurashtra allrounder, Ravindra Jadeja calling him a “bits and pieces cricketer”, did not go well with many fans and the Indian all-rounder. This lead to Jadeja questioning Mumbaikar’s cricketing credentials. Later on, Majrekar had to apologize for his harsh comments and praise Jadeja for his performances in the national jersey.
