Manoj Tiwary, the veteran Bengal cricketer, was in utter surprise after the exclusion of Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel from the Indian squads for the upcoming tour of Australia. Both Yadav and Patel have been performing quite consistently in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Even as Surya is playing for Mumbai Indians (MI), Patel is a part of the Delhi Capitals (DC), led by Shreyas Iyer.

Suryakumar has batted at number three and has often been seen carrying forward the good work done by the Mumbai openers. MI is currently leading the IPL 2020 points table and Surya has contributed quite a bit to their success. Axar, on the other hand, has been the most economical bowler for the Capitals, conceding runs at less than 5.78.

In Sharjah, Patel also showed that he can use the long handle to good effect when he smashed three sixes in the final over of Ravindra Jadeja to take his team over the finishing line. As far as Team India are concerned, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the T20I, Test and ODI squads on Monday, October 26.

In a statement regarding the same, BCCI said, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee met via video-conference on Monday to select the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming Tour of Australia. Team India will take part in three T20Is, three ODIs and four Test matches against Australia.”

Tiwary, who last played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in IPL 2018, felt for Surya and Axar as he feels that they were born in the wrong era. He also believes that the duo has all the ability to give tough competition to the others at the highest level.

Some years down d line, few cosy group of people will say that u both were born/played at d wrong Era but i would say u cud have easily played along side ur competitors.”
