South Africa’s left-arm pacer, Marco Jansen, delivered an impactful start in the second T20I of the four-match series against India, held at St George’s Park in Gqeberha. Jansen dismissed India’s in-form opener Sanju Samson in the very first over, setting the tone for South Africa. Samson, who scored a century in the previous match, entered the game with high expectations.
Since taking on the role of T20I opener, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has showcased stellar form. Captain Suryakumar Yadav had assured Samson of seven consecutive matches in this position, allowing him to settle into the role without immediate performance pressure.

Continuing his remarkable streak, Samson hit another century against South Africa in Durban, scoring a blazing 107 runs, which made him the first Indian to score back-to-back T20I centuries. However, his luck ran out in the second T20I, where Jansen ended his innings early with a 3-ball duck.

The dismissal came on the third ball of the opening over. Jansen bowled a well-placed good-length delivery, and Samson, attempting to make room, exposed his stumps. He misjudged the line, played down the wrong side, and saw his leg stump knocked over, marking his fifth T20I duck.
With this dismissal, Samson joined KL Rahul’s record of five T20I ducks, positioning him just behind Virat Kohli with seven and Rohit Sharma with twelve in terms of the most ducks by Indian players in T20 internationals.
