Delhi Capitals (DC) thumped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a huge margin of 59 runs in the 19th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Dubai international stadium. With the help of a fiery half-century from Marcus Stoinis, DC reached a huge total of 196/4 in their quota of 20 overs. While in the second innings, RCB succumbed to the DC bowlers as Kagiso Rabada took 4 wickets.
Earlier in the day, RCB skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and welcomed Shreyas Iyer and his men to bat first at the Dubai International Stadium. Bangalore made a couple of changes to their playing XI from the previous game as they replaced Adam Zampa and Gurkeerat Singh Mann, replacing them with Moeen Ali and Mohammed Siraj respectively. On the other hand, Delhi replaced injured spinner Amit Mishra, who has been ruled out of the tournament, with Axar Patel.

Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave Delhi a fiery start as they had amassed 63 runs in the powerplay itself. However, the run flow slowed down after Mohammed Siraj sent Shaw back to the dressing room for 42 and skipper Iyer came out to bat and tried to carry forward the momentum.
Shreyas made a short partnership with Dhawan who was next to go back to the pavilion for his personal score of 32 as RCB fought their way into the game. With the run-flow slowed down, Iyer took the responsibility of moving up the ante and took on Moeen Ali but succumbed to a brilliant catch of Devdutt Padikkal. After his dismissal, Stoinis and Rishabh Pant added 89 runs for the 4th wicket.
DC was at 102/3 by the end of 13 overs, and they managed to add as many as 94 runs in the last seven over which helped them to reach the score of 196/4 in their quota of 50 overs. Stoinis scored his second fifty of the tournament and both times he managed to maintain a strike-rate of beyond 200. For RCB, Mohammad Siraj two wickets and he conceded just 34 runs.
During the chase, RCB never managed to get the much-needed momentum as first Aaron Ficn got three lifelines followed by R Ashwin giving him warning for mankading the third over in which he dismissed Padikkal. However, Finch ran out of luck in the 4th over as Axar Patel dismissed him caught behind. AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli needed a big partnership in order to stand a chance but, Anrich Nortje dismissed ABD while attempting a pull-shot in the 6th over.

After De Villiers’ wicket, Bangalore never managed to get back in the game despite the 32-run partnership for the 4th wicket between Kohli and Ali. After the dismissal of Ali in the 12th over, Virat took the onus of himself to smash the ball and he played some audacious shots but Iyer brought back Kagiso Rabada into the attack who dismissed the RCB skipper in the 14th overs. Eventually, they lost the game by 59 runs after losing wickets at regular intervals.
Match Summary:
Delhi Capitals – 186/4 in 20 overs (M Stoinis: 53*, P Shaw: 42; M Siraj: 2/34) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore – 137/9 in 20 overs (V Kohli: 43; K Rabada: 4/24, A Patel: 2/18) by 59 runs

.@DelhiCapitals really bowled well.
Smart bowling changes by @ShreyasIyer15 which didn’t allow the batsmen to get off to flying starts.@RCBTweets has a good batting line-up but were completely outplayed today.#DCvRCB #IPL2020— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) October 5, 2020
#DelhiCapitals at the top of the table. Won the match by a quite a margin. Stoinis has made such a difference to this side. Also….think about it…if #IPL2020 happened in April, Rabada might not have played in the first few weeks. Luck is not fictional.

Today RCB played like usual RCB.
Can 2020 get back to usual years?#IPL2020 #RCBvsDC

Delhi has won like a table topper. A 59 runs win against in form RCB means, they should be first to make it to play off.#DCvsRCB #RCBvDC #IPL2020

The #IPL is a fantastic product … great drama … best players in the world … outstanding coaches … but the over rates are shambolic … @cricbuzz #OnOn … Get on with it …

Why don't they just send the purple cap to Rabada's house along with his visa?
