Marcus Stoinis delivered a power-packed performance on Saturday (May 24), as he lifted Punjab Kings to a commanding total of 206/8 against Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Walking in at a precarious 144/5 in the 16th over, Stoinis wasted no time stamping his authority. He partnered with captain Shreyas Iyer to steady the innings before launching a ferocious assault in the death overs.

Stoinis remained unbeaten on a scintillating 44 off just 16 balls, hammering 3 fours and 4 sixes. His calculated aggression in the final overs was the turning point, particularly his brutal takedown of pacers Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma. In the 17th over, Stoinis clobbered Mukesh for 25 runs, including two massive sixes and a boundary, completely shifting the momentum in Punjab’s favor.

With the 18th over from Kuldeep Yadav yielding just three runs, the pressure was back on Punjab to maximize the penultimate over. Stoinis once again rose to the occasion, smashing Mohit Sharma for two sixes and two fours to keep the scoreboard ticking at a high rate. His ability to find gaps and clear the ropes under pressure underlined why he remains one of the most dangerous lower-order finishers in T20 cricket.

Earlier in the innings, Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis gave Punjab a decent start, while Shreyas Iyer anchored the middle phase. However, Stoinis’ explosive cameo was the real highlight, ensuring that Punjab crossed the 200-run mark.

The innings wasn’t without drama either — Karun Nair’s misjudged boundary save attempt off Shashank Singh briefly created confusion between a six and a single, only for the third umpire to confirm it wasn’t a six. Punjab now heads into the second innings with momentum firmly on their side.
