Mark Boucher Clarifies ABD’s Decision Of Not Coming Out Of Retirement

South Africa coach Mark Boucher has shared teh reason behind AB de Villiers deciding not to come out of retirement and make an international comeback. Boucher has termed the development unfortunate while adding that he respects AB’s decision and it was time to move on. ABD has been leaving his fans in awe with his ability to dominate against any bowling attack despite not playing international cricket for over three years now.

There were reports doing the rounds that AB de Villiers is thinking of coming out of his retirement from international cricket for the T20 World Cup 2021 event in India after head coach and former teammate Mark Boucher said he would “hold talks” with the superstar player.

However, earlier this week, Cricket South Africa clarified that de Villiers’s retirement “will remain final”. In a press release reading the same, CSA said, “Discussions with AB de Villiers have concluded with the batsman deciding once and for all, that his retirement will remain final.”

AB de Villiers had announced his retirement from all forms of teh game long back in 2018.

Talking about The Citizen about ABD’s retirement, Mark Boucher said, “AB has his reasons, which I respect. Unfortunately, he’s no longer in the mix. I say unfortunately because I think we all agree that he’s still one of the best if not the best T20 players in world cricket. But he alluded to being concerned about coming in ahead of other players who have been a part of the system.”

He further added, “I don’t think it sat well with him, which I understand. As a coach I needed to try and get our best players, for the team and the environment. AB is an energy booster in any environment, but I respect his reasoning. It was worth a go, but now let’s move forward.”
