With 1104 runs in 17 Test innings, Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne ended 2019 on a high note and also as the highest run-scorer in Tests, cementing his place in the team too. Starting as a concussion substitute for Steve Smith, he went all bang bang in the Ashes and left a mark for himself. After a super successful year, Labuschagne spoke about this recently.
“I just keeping it process-driven and not on results,” Marnus Labuschange told cricket.com.au, after Australia clinchinged the series in the second Test in Perth. “Making sure that every innings I come in with a clear mind and making sure I’m playing what’s in front of me and not what’s happened in the past and not what I want to achieve – it’s right in the moment.”
“Apart from that, I’m just loving it. It’s a great team to be a part of, and the way we’re playing at the moment is really enjoyable,” he further added.

The strategy has worked for Labuschagne and gave rewards as well so far, as he became the find of the season of Australia. His wonderful Test form has earned him a call-up to Australia’s ODI squad for their upcoming tour to India as well, where they will take on number 1 Test team India in a three-match ODI series between January 14 and 19.
On the other hand, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will take place at home in October, the time is good for Marnus Labuschagne to maintain his red-ball success and become a key player for Australia across formats.
