One such incident occurred on Day 1 of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground when Marnus Labuschagne was caught spitting his gum on the ground. Labuschagne’s performance in the second Test marked a significant improvement from the first match. As one of the highest-ranked Test batsmen globally, he had failed to make an impact in the initial Ashes Test. Throughout the two innings of the first Test, the 29-year-old only managed to score a meager 13 runs.

However, in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s, Labuschagne showcased his batting prowess by scoring 47 runs off 93 deliveries before being dismissed by Ollie Robinson. This contributed to Australia’s remarkable first-innings total of 416 runs on the board.

After amassing a substantial score in the first innings, Australia aimed to replicate their impressive performance with the ball. However, England’s batting lineup displayed a formidable ‘Bazball’ approach on Day 2. The opening pair of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett led the charge, accumulating 48 and 98 runs, respectively. Additionally, Ollie Pope contributed 42 runs from 63 deliveries.

With England cruising at 91/1, it seemed they were firmly in control of the game. Nevertheless, Australian captain Pat Cummins employed a masterful tactic that turned the tables in his team’s favor. Unleashing a barrage of bouncers, Australia swiftly dismissed Pope, Duckett, and Root. By the end of Day 2, England had reached 278/4, and they were determined to add more runs to their total.
