The afternoon match at the Wankhede stadium, Mumbai was full of fireworks as the home team Mumbai Indians raised a humongous total of 194/7 batting first against the Delhi Daredevils team. Surya Kumar Yadav top-scored with 53 from 32 balls with seven boundaries and one six. DD clawed back in the game with a brilliant finish and kept MI down to only 194 after it looked like 210 at one stage.

Kishan was severe against Tewatia.

The game was largely of two halves. The first half belonged to the home team Mumbai Indians. Asked to bat first, Mumbai made the most of the gesture. First-time opening for Mumbai was the home-cricketer Surya Kumar Yadav. He has been excellent at the Wankhede as seen even in the T20 Mumbai League.

Today also Surya began in a spectacular fashion and attacked the Delhi bowling ferociously. Evin Lewis was not quite at the other end as well. he also took part in the bashing and Mumbai’s train was running unhindered. By the end of the powerplay, Mumbai was 84/0.

Introduction of the spin halted Mumbai’s progress. Surya 41(20) and Lewis 37(16) slowed down in later overs of Tewatia and Maxwell. After Surya and Lewis got out, the next surge of momentum came from Ishan Kishan. The unorthodox batsman smashed 44 runs from 23 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Once Ishan Kishan got out, Mumbai batsmen failed to capitalize on the start, Lots of slower balls and cutters reduced Mumbai to only 28 runs from last 26 balls with losing four wickets. Although Mumbai has 194/7 on the board, it could have been a lot more.
