Former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli didn’t witness a great return to international cricket after a rough patch in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was dismissed after scoring just 11 runs in the first innings of the much-anticipated 5th Test against England at Edgbaston. Kohli was dismissed by the newbie fast bowler, Matthew Potts in the second session in front of a packed house in Birmingham.

Virat Kohli looked in two minds as he eventually decided to leave one outside the off-stump from Matthew Potts. However, the ball hit the inside edge before deflecting onto the stumps. Kohli was dejected as he was walking back to the pavilion after having found new ways to get out over the last few months.

Kohli was expected to get back to form as he had been in good touch in the 4-day practice match against Leicestershire last week. Kohli had also played a knock of 33 in the first innings but he was fluent for his 67 in the second innings wherein he brought out his trademark drives and pulls.

On Friday, Virat Kohli started on a solid note, fending off James Anderson in a nervous period before rain started pouring. Just when the star batter looked to settle down after the resumption of play in the second innings, Potts got the big breakthrough.

Kohli had plenty of nervous moments at the crease in Edgbaston and his knock came to an end when he was indecisive about leaving or playing at a length ball. The delivery caught the inside edge and crashed into the stumps, reducing India to 71/4 in the 25th over.
