Having put in to bat by Rohit Sharma, Kings XI Punjab’s captain, Glenn Maxwell, went bonkers in Mitchell McClenaghan’s third over and the innings’ 15th over. Maxwell hammered 28 runs off New Zealand’s left-arm fast bowler’s over. McClenaghan had given 14 runs from his first two overs and had even dismissed an opposition batsman. But Maxwell was instrumental in disturbing the fast bowlers’ figures.

After Kings XI Punjab’s decent start, a blitz from someone was required. Fortunately for Punjab, their captain led from the front to provide the required momentum to Punjab’s innings.

Maxwell started the over with a couple of sixes, which went down the ground. He followed it with two boundaries, one through the mid-wicket region and one through the point region. To add more to his woes, McClenaghan had committed a sin of over stepping on the fourth delivery. The free hit went for a six (over square leg) as well. A total of 28 runs in made it the second-most expensive over of this season of the Indian Premier League.
