Fielding coach of the Indian team, R Sridhar and Mayank Agarwal on Sunday was seen working out indoors in a bid to give fitness tips to star India cricketers who are spending time away from competitive cricket due to Covid-19 pandemic. In a video uploaded by India cricket team on Instagram, Sridhar can be seen doing crunches indoors.
Captioning the video of the same on Instagram, the Indian cricket team wrote: “Stay indoors and stay fit. Our fielding coach @coach_rsridhar giving us major fitness goals from home.”

Indian athletes, including cricketers, have been trying their best to remain fit during the self-isolation periods. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan took to social media to post videos from their indoor training sessions. On the day of Janata Curfew, Test opener Mayank Agarwal was also seen working out indoors.

In the wake of the increasing case of coronavirus number of Covid-19 cases in the country, facilities such as schools, gyms, malls among others wherein large public gatherings as possible have been under lockdown. As of March 22, 391 positive cases of novel coronavirus have emerged from India and unfortunately, 7 people have lost their lives due to the disease.

Among other things, the global sporting calendar has been massively affected by the outbreak of the deadly virus. Some of the biggest sporting leagues and tournaments in the world have either been postponed, suspended or called off.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended all domestic cricket and postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) until April 15. Notably, a 3-match series between India and South Africa was suspended until further notice. The Sports Ministry last week had directed all sporting associations and the BCCI to suspend all activities until April 15. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said a call on IPL 2020 can be taken after the mid of April.
