SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) has hit the reboot button after witnessing failures in the last couple of Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons. The SRH management has roped in a new captain a fresh batting unit, in the hopes of returning to the top for places in the IPL. One of the big Indian buys from SRH this season has been Mayank Agarwal who was released by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) after last season and let go from the franchise.

Agarwal talked about the opportunity to play under Aiden Markram in IPL 2023 and explained his camaraderie with the South African batter. Markram’s rise in world cricket has been sensational in the last 12 months and he is leading the Proteas in the T20Is as well, ahead of David Miller and Keshav Maharaj.

Speaking to the SRH YouTube channel, Mayank Agarwal said, “He is a great guy. Apart from being a fantastic cricketer, he is a great guy. So that tells you a lot about him. I call him the machine, and that’s for a reason. Somebody who works really hard on his game, who really thinks a lot about his game, and who is genuinely a great guy, and who has a very happy and relaxed vibe around him.”

The batter further added that he was excited to play under the leadership of the South African and stated that they shared a very close bond.

Explaining the same, Mayank Agarwal said, “I am really looking forward to playing under him because we had a bond when we played for Punjab. I’m really looking forward to building on that when we play now for SRH.”

Agarwal will be SRH’s first-choice opener in the IPL 2023 season and will be starting with Abhishek Sharma.
