After a promising T20I debut series against Bangladesh, where he claimed four wickets, India’s rising pace talent Mayank Yadav has been sidelined due to a back injury and will miss the upcoming T20I series from November 8-15. Reports from IANS suggest that the injury could keep him out for several months, with sources estimating an absence of at least two to three months.

Currently undergoing treatment at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Yadav’s exact injury details remain unclear, though the initial diagnosis points to a significant back issue. “He’s back here for another issue, likely related to the back, which may keep him out for an extended period,” a source told IANS.

The initial outlook indicates he may need up to three months of recovery, though further assessment could adjust that timeframe. Mayank Yadav represents Delhi in domestic cricket and trained with the renowned Sonnet Cricket Club before his international debut.

Previously, he had to work on regaining match fitness after suffering an abdominal strain while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. His raw pace and ability to bowl consistently above 150 kph impressed both fans and analysts during his IPL appearances.

Injuries, however, have disrupted Mayank Yadav’s career more than once. A torn hamstring kept him out of the IPL 2023 season, and he missed the 2023/24 Ranji Trophy season due to another injury, which required rehabilitation in Mumbai.

With the IPL retention deadline approaching on October 31, Yadav is a strong candidate to be retained by LSG, who signed him in 2022 for INR 20 lakhs. His pace and wicket-taking ability make him a valuable asset for the team, despite his recent injury setbacks.
