Mayank Yadav, the promising young fast bowler for India and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has taken a significant step toward his return ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Mayank has begun bowling in the nets, signalling positive progress in his recovery from an injury that sidelined him before India’s T20I tour of South Africa in November 2024.

Despite his promising recovery, uncertainty still looms over his exact return date for IPL 2025. LSG, who retained the 22-year-old speedster for INR 11 crore after his sensational debut season in 2024, is treading cautiously. They remain hopeful but patient, prioritizing his full fitness before bringing him back into the squad.

A recent video shared on Mayank’s Instagram story showed him bowling at a reduced intensity with a shortened run-up, closely monitored by his coach. The sight of him back in the nets is an encouraging sign for LSG fans and management. Reports from Sports Tak suggest that Mayank has been bowling well and appears match-ready. However, his return hinges on clearance from the Centre of Excellence before he can rejoin the LSG squad.

As per the latest updates, LSG is optimistic that Mayank will be available by April 11 or 12, which means he is likely to miss at least the first seven matches of the season. The young pacer made an electrifying impact in IPL 2024, rattling batters with his express pace and winning back-to-back Player of the Match awards against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, persistent injuries limited him to just four games.

LSG mentor Zaheer Khan has emphasized the importance of managing Mayank’s fitness carefully, stating that the franchise will not rush him back until he is “150% fit.” Once cleared, Mayank will strengthen LSG’s pace attack alongside Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Shamar Joseph, Akash Singh, and Prince Yadav.
