Lucknow Super Giants are all set to welcome back one of their most explosive assets—Mayank Yadav. The young pace sensation has reportedly been declared fit and is expected to rejoin the LSG squad on Tuesday, a move that could significantly bolster their bowling attack as the business end of IPL 2025 approaches. According to India Today, the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru has cleared Mayank for return, although the final decision on his match readiness will rest with LSG’s coaching staff.

Mayank had been sidelined due to a lumbar stress injury sustained prior to the season, and while his initial recovery timeline pointed to a mid-April return, an unfortunate toe injury further pushed back his comeback. However, LSG head coach Justin Langer recently provided an encouraging update, noting the speedster’s relentless effort behind the scenes.

“He’s been working incredibly hard at the NCA,” Justin Langer said, referring to the CoE’s former identity. “I saw footage of him bowling yesterday—he was clocking 90 to 95% intensity. It’s exciting not just for us, but for Indian cricket too. Mayank’s impact last season was electric. I honestly haven’t seen anyone in India bowl quicker.”

Langer also praised the efforts of the CoE staff, acknowledging their role in getting several key bowlers back on the park. “They’ve done a brilliant job. Avesh and Akash Deep have returned strong, and now we’re hopeful about Mayank too.”

Mayank Yadav made his IPL debut last season and despite featuring in just four matches, left an indelible mark. With speeds consistently touching 150kph and precision to match, he picked up six wickets and immediately sparked conversations about India’s fast bowling future. Unfortunately, injuries cut his debut campaign short, but not before he earned a national call-up, playing three T20Is for India.

Ahead of IPL 2025, LSG reaffirmed their faith by retaining him for ₹11 crore. Currently sitting fourth on the points table, LSG will be eager to have Mayank back in the mix. Their next clash is against CSK at home on Monday, followed by an away fixture in Jaipur against the Rajasthan Royals on April 19—a crucial phase where Mayank’s return could make all the difference.
