Mayank Yadav’s long-awaited India debut on October 6 for the first T20I against Bangladesh was nothing less than sensational. The 22-year-old pacer made an immediate mark, starting off his spell with a maiden over, adding his name to that very long list of iconic Indian cricket moments. Fans had waited to see him in action after a stellar IPL 2024 campaign; he didn’t disappoint them.
Yadav played in Gwalior, and along with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy, news flashed. Even on just his eighth delivery, Mayank struck for the first time into international cricket as he sent back the aggressive Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad.
An early wicket amplified the excitement around him as he solidified his place for India’s pace attack. There was rapid ascension, especially after a brilliant outing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024 where he grabbed everyone’s attention while bowling the fastest delivery in IPL history at 156.7 km/h.
