While the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) staffs and the Mumbai players’ payments are still at pending list, a senior official claimed on Monday that these would be paid soon once the Supreme Court gives them the appropriate orders.
Currently, there is nobody in authority to operate the MCA bank accounts and that’s why the salaries are remained pending since this September.
Talking on this issue, the senior official told PTI, “A MCA member has approached the Supreme Court and we are awaiting its orders. As soon as we get an appropriate order, we will make all necessary payments of the staff and the players.”

Earlier this year, the High Court had appointed two retired judges in the Committee of Administrators (CoA) for the MCA, but their terms ended in this September. While the CoA handed over the responsibility to CEO CS Naik but he has no authority to clear the payments and as a result, the recent payments have been halted.
On the other hand, some members of the MCA affiliated clubs have wished to help the staffs in this stalemate situation.
The MCA affiliated club Parsee Gymkhana’s vice president, Khodadad Yazdegardi said on that, “We have approached the affiliated clubs of the MCA and have asked them to help the MCA staff. We will be soon conducting a meeting of the clubs on how to help the staffers. The response from the clubs so far has been good.”

Khodadad also claimed that Vilas Godbole is the behind of this idea, who is associated with United Cricket Club.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai cricket team recently won the 2018/19 Vijay Hazare Trophy after beating Delhi by four wickets in the final of the tournament. However, these players’ haven’t received their Vijay Hazare Trophy match fees yet.
A senior member of the team quoted, “Usually a player gets around Rs 35,000 per match but due to the impasse in the MCA, they have not got their dues for the entire tournament.”
