Delhi all-rounder Medhavi Bidhuri has revealed that despite having more than 80,000 followers on Instagram, she is still hoping for one special follow-back — from former India captain Virat Kohli. The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the talking points of the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026, largely because of her quirky ‘6-7’ wicket celebration. The celebration quickly caught the attention of social media users and became one of the tournament’s viral moments.
Medhavi unveiled the celebration after dismissing South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh during Central Delhi Queens’ opening match on Thursday. She finished the game with impressive figures of 2/24, although her side eventually suffered a defeat. Her No. 67 jersey made the celebration even more relevant, allowing her to incorporate the viral ‘67’ trend into her on-field routine.
“I have got so many followers now, but I want a follow-back from him (Kohli),” Medhavi Bidhuri told journalists Ankita Mishra and Kunal Wahi on the sidelines of the Women’s Delhi Premier League. When asked which cricketer she admires, Medhavi immediately named Kohli, while also mentioning former India women’s captain Mithali Raj. “Virat Kohli, obviously, because he is from Delhi. And Mithali Raj is very patient. I have personally attended a lot of camps with her,” she added.

The celebration drew plenty of reactions online, with fans amused by how closely Medhavi’s No. 67 jersey matched the viral trend. Her playful approach has helped the youngster attract additional attention during the tournament.

Interestingly, despite being around the same cricketing circles in Delhi, Medhavi Bidhuri has never actually met Kohli. She revealed that the two were once working out at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) but never crossed paths. “I have never actually met Virat. I was working out at the DDCA when he was there too, but we could not meet,” she said.
Medhavi’s ambitions extend beyond the Delhi Premier League. She was among the players registered for the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction and remains focused on earning an opportunity in the franchise competition.

If given the chance to choose her preferred WPL team, Medhavi already knows where she would like to play. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is her first choice, with her admiration for Kohli influencing that preference. “I would be happy if any team picks me, but my personal favourite is RCB because I know a lot of people there. Maybe it is because of Virat as well, in fact,” Medhavi said.
