“Lot of the things that I am trying to do aren’t coming off as a batter. Mentally it’s a challenge. It’s a big disappointment. As of now, that is where it is,” Rohit Sharma said. “There are things we need to look at as a team, I also need to look at personally. There’s still a game to go. If we play well, it will be 2-all. A draw will be really nice (result),” he added.

In the press conference, Rohit Sharma also praised the youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy for his performance in Melbourne. In the first innings, Reddy smashed his maiden Test hundred, helping India fight to survive in the game as well. Rohit also appreciated his technique, potential, and the character that he showed on the field with the bat. However, Nitish also became the third-youngest Indian to hit a Test hundred in Australia as well.

“We saw a lot of potential. He’s shown what he is capable of, read the situation pretty well. Has a solid technique and superb mind. Has a strong character. Hard to say about his growth because there have been just four matches. He will only go up from here because he has all the tools to be very successful,” Rohit Sharma concluded.
