Former Australia captain and now commentator Michael Clarke has come out in strong support of Rohit Sharma, saying the Mumbai Indians (MI) opener is just one solid knock away from roaring back to form in IPL 2025. Rohit has endured a tough time with the bat so far, managing only 38 runs across four innings—a far cry from the high standards he’s known for.

With only one fifty in his last 12 IPL innings, criticism around Rohit’s form has intensified. But Clarke believes the veteran opener still has plenty to offer and simply needs one good outing to turn things around.
“I think Rohit’s an absolute superstar. It’s just a matter of time before he scores a hundred. Sometimes, all it takes is a knock of 40 or 60 to get the confidence going, and once that happens, the real Rohit Sharma will be back,” Michael Clarke told PTI, expressing full faith in the Indian legend.

The former Aussie skipper emphasized that elite players like Rohit should be allowed the occasional off patch, especially given their consistency over the years. “Class is permanent,” he added. “We expect a lot from the greats because they’ve done it for so long. But even the best go through lean phases.”

Rohit’s struggles at the top have cost Mumbai dearly this season. The five-time IPL champions have failed to establish strong starts, which has made chasing big targets even more difficult. Their defeats against Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru highlight the need for top-order stability—something only a firing Rohit can truly provide.
