The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be commencing in a couple of hours with the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) locking horns face off the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. As the fever of cricket’s most beloved league rises, many cricketers and pundits have come in with their opinions and predictions. Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, has not been left behind as he took to Twitter and predicted that Mumbai Indians (MI) will be winning the trophy third consecutive time.

However, Vaughan also said that only if there is any “bizarre loss of form” for the Rohit Sharma-led team, then the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has the capacity to win the trophy. His tweet read: “Early IPL 2021 prediction… MI will win it… if by some bizarre loss of form then Sunrisers Hyderabad.”

Michael Vaughan was amongst many who believed that Australia will be clean sweeping India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but the Indian team ended up clinching a historic win. It was not the first time in the recent past when Vaughan’s predictions have gone horribly wrong and opposite.
