Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan said that the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja should have won more ICC Trophies than they have among them as well. However, the trio announced their retirements from the T20I format soon after Team India won at the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados as well.

However, Vaughan opined on how Rohit Sharma was a part of the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007 and how he had to wait for another 17 years to win another one as well.

Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Michael Vaughan said: “They’ll all agree that it is a perfect way to go, but they should have won more white ball trophies amongst them. To think that he (Rohit) has taken another seventeen years to get another one in his hand, I think he will be the first one to admit that they should have won one or two more.”

Vaughan also claimed that Rohit Sharma would end up being amongst the best T20 batters and a stunning leader as well. He was surprised by the Mumbai Indians’ decision to replace him from his leadership.

“What a way to go out with a win in Barbados and a trophy in your hand. Now they can sit back and play Test cricket, a bit of one-day cricket and in the IPL like MS Dhoni, play on forever. In Indian cricket, they will be replaced as there’s plenty of talent in that team,” Michael Vaughan concluded.
