Former England skipper, Michael Vaughan has said that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have enough terms of experience to mount a title challenge. RCB cruised to a comfortable 8-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) owing to the fiery half-centuries from the veterans, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.

Speaking to Cricbuzz after their win, Michael Vaughan hailed RCB’s experience within the team, while adding that Reece Topley’s injury will be a big blow for them. Topley witnessed a decent start to his IPL career by cleaning up Cameron Green but picked up a shoulder injury while fielding.

Explaining the same, as per the quotes in India Today, Michael Vaughan said, “I think Bangalore, one day, will win this IPL. They will do it, and they have got enough in the tank in terms of experience. I think Reece Topley is going to be a big miss. That looks a bad injury with that shoulder.”

He went on to back Faf du Plessis and his men to finish in the play-off places in IPL 2023, adding that they’ve got the players and the experience to get to that stage of the tournament. Kohli remained unbeaten on 82 runs off 49 balls, while Du Plessis scored 73 runs off 43 balls to guide RCB to a comfortable win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Michael Vaughan elaborated, “But they’ve certainly got the experience and the players. But as we know from history, that doesn’t take you all the way to winning a trophy, but surely now they’re back at home, and that ground is such a great ground for them, and they know how to play there. I’m sure they’re going to get to that top four, and then who knows what will happen at the end.”

After overcoming Rohit Sharma’s MI, RCB will turn their attention to Kolkata Knight Riders, with the two teams set to lock horns at the Eden Gardens on April 6.
