English wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has been enjoying a purple patch in his batting career for more than a month now as he has been scoring runs almost in every other game. In England’s recently concluded ODI against Australia, he amassed 275 runs from 5 matches at an unbelievable average of 137.50 and as a result of that, he was even crowned as the Player of the Series.

Buttler’s most memorable knock of the tournament came in the final of the series at the Old Trafford in Manchester. On Sunday, he came out with a match-winning knock of 110 runs from 122 balls. Most importantly, he took his time over the line, especially when they were staring down the barrel with the score reading 114/8 in around 30 overs, most importantly with only a couple of wickets in hand.

Nexxt year, the cricket World Cup is going to take place in England and there is no doubt about the fact that Buttler is the first choice keeper for the home team. Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan, the former English skipper, termed his as the Poms’ X-factor going into the most prestigious 50-over tournament.

During a recent interview with Sportstar, Vaughan said, “I look at the England side and Buttler is the one. Teams that win trophies have X-factor cricketers. He’s right up there. I’ve got everything crossed that he doesn’t pick up an injury. If he’s fit next year, they’ve got the best chance they have ever had.”

Michael also praises Jos for keeping his cool and ability prevent succumbing to the pressure. He remarked, “What he provides to the team is that calmness. Whenever he is out there in the middle, he reads the game better than most. He knows and the team knows that the opposition is scared of him more than most. Forget the 481 at Trent Bridge and the other hammerings – this game is one England will take more from. For them to get over the line today – in a real close game after Australia were favorites – this means more.”
