Former England captain Michael Vaughan has silenced Pakistan’s Salman Butt, who recently took a dig at Vaughan for his comment over the comparison between Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson. Butt said that Virat Kohli has 70 centuries whereas Vaughan has none in the limited-overs cricket as well.

And, this did not go down too well with the veteran cricketer as he reminded Salman Butt of his involvement in the match-fixing scandal. It started when in an interview Vaughan had said, if Williamson was an Indian, he would be called the world’s best batsman and not Kohli. After that, Butt had called that Vaughan has been doing this to be in the limelight.

Here’s how Vaughan responded to the allegations against him on Twitter: “I’ve seen what Salman has said about me… that’s fine and he is allowed his opinion but I wished he had such a clear thought of mind back in 2010 when he was Match Fixing.”

He even added this on his Facebook page. “You forgot to mention that I haven’t been a match fixer’ corrupting our great game’ either like some…!!!!!!!!,” it read.

Notably, Butt was involved in the spot-fixing scandal when he was the captain of the Pakistan team. He was later banned from the game for 10 years. However, the ban was then cut short to five years. While he had also stayed in jail, he only released in June 2012. However, he went on to play domestic cricket in Pakistan after the ban was lifted as well.

Earlier Salman Butt had said on his Youtube channel: “Who has compared the two? Michael Vaughan. He was a brilliant captain for England, but the beauty at which he used to bat, his output wasn’t on par. He was a good Test batsman but Vaughan never scored a single century in ODIs. Now, as an opener, if you haven’t scored a century, it’s not worth discussion. It’s just that he has a knack of saying things that stir up a debate. Besides, people have a lot of time to stretch a topic.”
