The former captain of the England cricket team, Michael Vaughan has always been expressive about how important role the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been playing in the development and exposure of the young Indian cricketers.
Currently commentating in the cash-rich T20 extravaganza, Vaughan has been very much impressed by the standard of U-19 players IPL is producing. Recently he spoke on an Indian sports news website, Cricbuzz praising how the IPL offers the best platform for most of the aspiring Indian cricketers to show and sharpen their skills.

In the same context, he compared the situation in Indian U-19 cricket with that of England’s. However, in recent times, the Vaughan has been consistently showering similar praises on social media platforms. A few days back he praised 17-year-old Abhishek Sharma, who made a dream IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils (DD) and tagged him as an “outstanding prospect”.
Another India U19 players gets a chance at the #IPL2018 ….. Abhishek Sharma looks another outstanding prospect … !!! #India

But not everyone is taking it in a sporting spirit. England pacer Jade Dernbach especially took the comparative analysis to heart and hit back on Twitter. Dernbach, who has played 24 ODIs and 34 T20Is, tweeted, “Keep plugging the ipl Michael clearly county cricket and our young player’s development is not top of your priorities list.”
The exchange of words started when Cricbuzz uploaded a live video titled, “Per Michael Vaughan, the English domestic circuit could learn a thing or two from its Indian counterpart when it comes to utilising young Under-19 talent,” where Vaughan talks about the matter in detail. Jade twitted the reply to a comment made by Australian Michael Di Venuto.
To which Vaughan replied, “Absolutely is Jade .. Passionately care about our system .. Love the fact you are all of a sudden promoting the 4-day game .. wished we had more like you .. I am sure you wouldn’t be interested in an IPL deal at all !!!!!!”
Here is the complete heated Twitter conversation between the two:

Jade … We have 1 of our under 19 players playing in a 18 Team tournament … Do you think that’s a good return ????? If it’s a Yes , I totally disagree with you .. https://t.co/cUwPumvPnC

Clearly county cricket has strength and you have to earn your way in. #earnyourstripes
— Jade Dernbach (@Jwd_16) May 14, 2018
But the IPL is the biggest Tournament in the world and they seem to find a way of getting more U19 players involved in 8 teams .. Not the 18 we have !?? https://t.co/7R1m8kXj2L

Your reply has confirmed this had nothing to do with talent in our country. Hope the commentary stint in the ipl finishes well.
