It was the time to turn on colored clothes after a successful Test series against the visiting Sri Lankan team. India was without their regular skipper Virat Kohli, which marked Rohit Sharma’s debut at the helm. Sri Lanka won the toss and inserted India to bat at Dharamshala’s picturesque stadium.

Against the flow of wind, India’s batting order was shattered like never before as Sri Lankan seamers were enjoying their outing in the middle. It all started with both openers given out after a successful review from Lankan skipper.

Dinesh Karthik, debutant Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, comeback man Hardik Pandya and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, everyone left the crease in a hurry as the scorecard reached 29/7 in 16.4 overs. Only MS Dhoni showed some skills to hang his bat and he found a trustable partner in form of Kuldeep Yadav. Both took from there to 70 runs on the board and Yadav scored a crucial 19.

MS managed some more runs on the board with tail-enders and scored a gutsy half-century, which will be remembered for ages. However, he, too, perished in search of some runs to fight as Indian innings concluded at 112/10 (38.2).

Suranga Lakmal was the star with the new ball and bowled his all 10 overs straight away to register figures of 10-4-13-4. Nuwan Pradeep helped him from the other end and grabbed 2 wickets.
