Playing for survival, Royal Challengers Bangalore did their best as they piled up 218/6 in their first innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. AB De Villiers, Moeen Ali and Colin De Grandhomme were especially lethal against SRH bowling and were popping up sixes for fun. SRH’s fielding was not up to the mark, they dropped a few catches despite catching a few stunners.
Earlier in the night, SRH captain won the toss and chose to field first. The home team Bangalore went unchanged into the match as well. Sunrisers Hyderabad rested their lead bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar and included Basil Thampi in his place.
The start was excellent for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they took the wicket of opener Parthiv Patel straightaway. Virat Kohli and ABD then joined each other on the field and started the recovery. Kohli looked in good touch once again but he was undone by Rashid Khan for 12 in the 5th over. RCB sent Moeen Ali at number four.
The move worked perfectly well and duo accumulated runs faster than expected. They were lethal on anything in their zone and managed to clear the smallish boundary at Bangalore by quite a distance. The partnership accounted for 107 runs in 57 balls.
AB De Villiers, batting like he always does, scored 69 from 39 balls with 12 fours and one six. His six landed outside the stadium and it was measured to be 105 meters. Moeen Ali played a good hand and totaled 65 runs in 34 balls with 6 sixes. Rashid Khan took both out in the same over.
The assault did not stop though as Colin De Grandhomme 40(17) and Sarfaraz Khan 22(8) kept smashing the ball around the place. Basil Thampi was the worst-hit as he conceded 70 runs in his four overs. This is now the record for conceding most runs in an over. SRH needs 219 runs to win.
