In the virtual knockout match, Rajasthan Royals managed to put up 164/5 in their first innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The opener Rahul Tripathi carried his bat through the innings and remained not out on 80*. He was supported by Captain Rahane and later by Klassen and Gowtham. Umesh Yadav bowled brilliantly for RCB under the burning Sun.

Rahul Tripathi remained not out 80

Earlier in the afternoon, Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first. The move surprised Kohli as he wanted to put RR to bat first also. Royals missing the services of Buttler and Stokes brought in Laughlin and Klaasen. They also included Shreyas Gopal. RCB meanwhile went unchanged once again.

Taking a leaf out of R Ashwin’s captaincy book, Ajinkya Rahane sent Jofra Archer to open the innings alongside Rahul Tripathi. The experiment failed as Archer returned for 0 from 4 balls. Then it was up to regulars in Rahane and Tripathi. The duo managed to stitch the partnership of 99 runs from 69 balls.

It was then that the over of Umesh Yadav arrived. He shook RR with double blows. He first removed Ajinkya Rahane LBW and then got Sanju Samson out on the first ball. Yadav had Klaasen out LBW too but the DRS confirmed an inside edge which saved the batsman.

After that Tripathi fought from one end, while Klaasen and Gowtham added crucial runs from the other side. Klaasen (32 runs from 21 balls) and Gowtham (14 runs from 5 balls) helped RR get to 164 on a sluggish pitch. RCB needs 165 runs to win the match.
