Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Mike Hesson has turned down the chances of any big changes in the playing XI for their final league match against Delhi Capitals (DC). RCB have already qualified for IPL 2021 playoffs and are currently in the third position in the points table as well.

However, Mike Hesson has noted that the franchise has an impeccable balance and they won’t change just because they lost a tight game as well. While speaking ahead of their encounter against Delhi Capitals, Hesson said to RCB’s social media handles about this.

He said: “We’ve been pretty consistent with our lineups recently and it has given us a lot of success as well. Doesn’t mean that we won’t make the odd tweak here and there. I think the balance of the squad is excellent. There are seven bowling options and we bat all the way down so we’ve got the balance and competition for a few places. We certainly won’t be changing our whole team just because we lost by 4 runs.”

However, RCB have reached the playoffs for the second season in a row. They lost to SRH in the last edition’s Eliminator and are hoping to win the title this time. The RCB coach also feels that the prospect of facing such a good side like Delhi is exciting, as another win will give them a lot of confidence before the playoffs.

“We’re taking on a very good DC side who are rightly at the top of the table. They’re playing very good cricket and for us to beat them we’re gonna have to play really well. It’s exciting because a win will give us a lot of confidence heading into the playoffs,” Mike Hesson concluded.

After the defeat, Virat Kohli said: “I don’t think so, the intent has to be to try and get it done as soon as possible. We don’t want to stretch these games too deep, but having lost a couple of early wickets, rebuilding was key. Maxi’s [Maxwell] run-out was the game-changing moment in terms of momentum and Maxi was in the zone to get a couple of big overs. With AB [de Villiers] you are never out of the game, but it is about making sure that the guy who’s in flow is on strike in the crucial moments. We have been very professional as a team to handle both losses and victories, we haven’t been over the top or too low with losses. A little hiccup in the journey but we carry on with the same momentum.”
