Mike Hesson Thanks Narendra Modi After NZ Return

Former Black Caps head coach and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Director of Cricket Mike Hesson was in India for the IPL. On Tuesday, He has finally returned to his home country New Zealand after being stuck in India. The Kiwis coach was in India since 5 March the Indian Premier League. However, he was stuck in India amid the nationwide lockdown implemented by the Indian government to contain the spread of  Coronavirus across the nation. With the lockdown imposed and flights suspended, the former New Zealand player was in trouble when a few parties got together to help the NZ out and ensure his safe return to the home country.

Hesson confirmed his return to New Zealand by a tweet on his social media platform. The 45-year-old thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, New Zealand Embassy in India and NZ PM Jacinda Ardern for their help.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has affected the world severely. It has brought the world to a standstill with many countries being completely lockdown. Many major sporting events are postponed or canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Cricket suffers from a similar fate with many international and domestic matches canceled. Earlier, the IP was scheduled to commence on March 29. Later postponed to 15 April, right now India’s premier cricketing event has been suspended indefinitely because of the same.

The pandemic spread of the COVID-19 Virus has affected more than 31,332 people across India. It is also responsible for taking away more than 1,008 lives. Originated in China, the virus has now affected more than 3,138,919 people taking 218,010 lives.
