It is the dream of every batsmen to score a century for his team. For any sports person, winning should always be considered of the utmost priority, however, personal milestones in cricket like scoring a century or taking a five-wicket haul are also celebrated. After all, it is a human tendency to work towards individual goals.

The most unfortunate score for a batsman to get out in cricket is 99. Having done all the hard work in getting the closest to a century, when a batsman falls prey to a nervous shot or a tight run, it is one of the worst possible moments.

Sachin Tendulkar has been dismissed the most times (3) on 99 in ODI cricket. In test matches, the record falls down to two and is shared by Michael Atherton, Greg Blewett, Geoff Boycott, Sourav Ganguly, Simon Katich, Richie Richardson, Salim Malik, Mike Smith and John Wright. In T20Is, the score further drops down to 1, shared by Luke Wright and Alex Hales.
