This season of the cash-rich Indian Premier League started with bunch of injuries, which resulted in some serious problems for most of the franchises. There have been several players who have either pulled out of the 10th edition of IPL or have been injured and are sidelined.
There are some big players who will be missed throughout the season of IPL. That has given the chance to the youngsters to step into the act and prove their mettle. We have pointed out the pool of players who are missing in the ongoing season of IPL.
1. KL Rahul (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Indian opener KL Rahul has been in phenomenal form in recent times for the Indian team. He was the most stand-out batsman of RCB in the last season of IPL. He built some brilliant partnership with Chris Gayle and almost helped his team to clinch the title last year.
He is missing from the ongoing season of IPL due to his shoulder injury which he sustained in the Test series against the Aussies. He has also done the surgery of his shoulder in London earlier this month.
2. Murali Vijay (Kings XI Punjab)
Another Indian opener Murali Vijay has been a crucial cog for Indian team especially in Tests. He was in decent form in the Test series against Australia as well. He led the Kings XI Punjab squad in last season of IPL and but, in this season, unfortunately, he is sidelined due to an injury.
Vijay went under a scan of his shoulder after he felt something. However, the scans revealed that it was a more series injury than it should have been.
3. Jean Paul Duminy (Delhi Daredevils)
South African cricketer JP Duminy, who has been one of earliest IPL cricketers, has been in some form lately. He plays for Delhi Daredevils, who have been poor in the last season of IPL, were having dependent on this guy to make the difference. However, in this season Duminy opted out of the IPL. The reasons are fairly termed as personal and have not been revealed.
4. Quinton de Kock (Delhi Daredevils)
Another South African Quinton de Kock has been outstanding form in the Test series against the Kiwis. Unfortunately, he injured his index finger. This talented southpaw has pulled out of the IPL very late and has left DD short-handed. Quinton was a crucial member of their squad as well.
5. Mitchell Marsh (Rising Pune Supergiant)
Australian all-rounder Mitchel Marsh injured his shoulder during the Test series against India last month. He is good with the bat and has a decent right arm when it comes to bowling. He has pulled out of the IPL due to his shoulder injury and expected to miss the complete tournament. However, he wasn;t that much impressive during the last season of the IPL but will surely be missed by his Australian teammate Steve Smith.
6. Mitchell Starc (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Another Australian bowler Mitchell Starc has pulled out of the IPL due to injury. Starc has fractured his toe and will be out for weeks. His is going through his rehabilitation and now aiming to get fit before the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
Starc was the bowling spearhead of RCB in 2015 and was Kohli’s go to bowler as well. Mitchell who is not only a fantastic bowler but also is a pretty handy batter will be missed by the RCB camp.
