The legendary Australian fast bowler, Geoff Lawson clearly stated that Mitchell Marsh shouldn’t be part of Australia’s playing XI for the first Test in Adelaide saying the all-rounder has had his chances. Lawson had said “there’s no way I’m playing Mitchell Marsh [in Adelaide]” in an interview.

Now, Marsh has come out with a cheeky reply to the brutal criticism of his Test career saying he’s looking forward to seeing the former Test cricketer. Replying to those comments, Mitchell said, “Hi Geoff, how are you. ook, his comments are his comments, that’s his opinion. All I can focus on is preparing well for this Test match and preparing well for the summer, doing my best and that’s all I can do. People can say what they are going to say. But I’m looking forward to seeing him.”

Marsh’s batting form in the longest formats has been questioned since he had taken a massive beating since the South Africa tour earlier this year. He was part of the Australia squad for the UAE tour where they faced Pakistan in a two-match Test series. The tourists lose 1-0 with Marsh managing to score just 30 runs across four innings.

However, Marsh scored 96 in the Test in Durban in March, but since then his form has only seen the downfall. Despite severe criticism, he seems to be an automatic selection for the Adelaide Test as an allrounder and will be batting at No.6.

As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, Marsh said, “After the UAE, there’s no doubt that there are a few questions marks over me, so I’m just really pumped if I’m selected to get out there and play in front of Australian crowds again, its a great time of year. I am feeling good. I think No. 6 is a great position to bat especially if you’ve bowled a few overs you always get a bit of time to have a rest. I’m doing my best to make the No. 6 position my own in this team, so that’s all I can do.”

Following the disastrous UAE tour, Marsh returned to Sheffield Shield where he scored 151 while leading Western Australia signaling his return to form.

Describing his preparations for the upcoming series, the all-rounder said, “I’m fully fit, rearing to go, got some good overs under my belt the last couple of weeks for Western Australia. I’m feeling great. My goal for this summer is to start chipping in with the ball and get a few more wickets for the team. I love coming on in the graveyard shift, 70 to 80 overs when the ball’s doing nothing and trying to sneak in a wicket. I really want to take my bowling to the next level in this team. That’s about taking your opportunity when you get it.”
