Mitchell Marsh Expected To Miss IPL 2022 Due To Hip Flexor Injury?

The dependable Australian all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh will be missing the ODI series against Pakistan scheduled to be commencing on March 29 in Lahore after he suffered a hip flexor injury while training. Marsh has reportedly suffered a hip flexor injury and is likely to miss the entire ODI series against Pakistan. This also puts his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in some serious doubt. Marsh was picked up by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.50 crores.

Mitchell Marsh’s injury has come at the wrong time for Australia. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and David Warner have taken a rest from the series with Glenn Maxwell another name that is missing. Australian skipper Aaron Finch is also expecting Marsh to miss the entire series based on what he said.

Talking about the injury, Aaron Finch had said, “I don’t think he’ll be available for this series based on how he was feeling yesterday. He sustained that yesterday in a fielding drill. It was a high-intensity, lateral movement drill. He bent down to pick it up one-handed and went to throw and felt a twinge in his hip flexor.”

Steve Smith is also ruled out with an elbow injury as Cameron Green has been included in the squad to replace Mitchell Marsh. In the absence of Smith, Marnus Labuschagne is expected to bat at number three.

Talking about Smith, Aaron Finch said, “Marnus is someone who brings a lot to the team, particularly in these conditions with his leg breaks, and his batting speaks for itself.”

Several of Australia’s top names including Finch, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, and Pat Cummins will be joining their respective IPL franchises after the end of the ODI series.
