Mitchell Marsh turned on the fireworks at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, May 22, as the Australian all-rounder launched a stunning assault on Rashid Khan during the Gujarat Titans vs Lucknow Super Giants clash. The in-form LSG opener smashed 25 runs off Rashid’s very first over, leaving the Afghan spin maestro stunned and the Ahmedabad crowd buzzing.

The carnage unfolded in the 12th over of the innings. Marsh, already well set on 59 off 40 balls, seized the opportunity to dismantle one of the world’s most respected T20 bowlers. The first delivery from Rashid disappeared over cow corner for a towering six. Marsh followed it up with a crisp four through the covers, before launching another six down the ground over long-off.

The fourth and fifth deliveries were sent racing to the boundary ropes as well, completing an over dominated by the bat. A single off the final delivery allowed Marsh to retain strike, capping an over that dramatically shifted the momentum in LSG’s favour.

At the time of reporting, Lucknow Super Giants managed to reach the score of 235/2 in 20 overs, with Mitchell Marsh scoring a century as he amassed 117 off 64 balls. Nicholas Pooran was providing excellent support, unbeaten on 56 from 27 balls, as the visitors looked to finish strong.
For Gujarat Titans, this game holds immense importance. With 18 points from 12 matches, a win would secure a top-two finish, giving them two chances at making the IPL 2025 final. However, a slip-up could see them fighting through the eliminator route.
