After a high-voltage thriller that saw Delhi Capitals edge past Rajasthan Royals in a Super Over, emotions ran high at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. In a touching post-match moment, Yashasvi Jaiswal was seen sharing a light-hearted yet genuine conversation with Mitchell Starc, with Nitish Rana quietly observing. What made the exchange all the more intriguing was the recent history between Jaiswal and Starc, who crossed paths as many as 10 times during the fiercely contested Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year.

Their encounters in the Test series were anything but friendly, as Jaiswal’s cheeky sledges—including the now-viral “You’re coming too slow” comment to Starc in Perth—added spice to an already intense rivalry. Starc, in return, had the final say on a few occasions, dismissing the young Indian three times in the series.

But cricket has a way of turning fiery rivalries into mutual respect. After the match, Jaiswal walked up to Mitchell Starc and said warmly, “Legend, how are you? Very well done, very well bowled,” while Starc chatted with his former KKR teammate Nitish Rana.

Starc, the hero of the night, showcased nerves of steel. He gave away just eight runs in the 18th over of the chase and dismissed a well-set Nitish Rana with a pinpoint yorker. When asked to defend nine runs in the final over, he pulled off the impossible, forcing a Super Over with his immaculate death bowling. He then returned to bowl the Super Over and restricted the Royals to just 11 runs, aided by two sharp run-outs.
KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs finished the job for Delhi, smashing a boundary and a six respectively to give DC their first win at home this season.

Earlier, DC’s 188/5 was powered by Abishek Porel’s solid 49 and fiery cameos from Axar Patel (34 off 14) and Stubbs (34* off 18). The Royals, led by half-centuries from Jaiswal and Rana, looked set to chase it down before Delhi’s bowlers flipped the script.
