The fiery Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc has been known to be an animated character on the cricket field. It has often happened that he shooted thunderbolts at the batsmen, many of whom have strained against the fast bowlers from Buckingham Hills in New South Wales. However, he hasn’t had the best of series with the ball and has also been criticized by former Aussie greats including Shane Warne.

The Aussies are currently locking horns with India in the four-match Test series and the third Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is underway. On a decent batting strip, the Indian batsmen made the Australian bowlers toil hard for 169.4 overs. Starc himself bowled 28 overs and conceded 87 runs, picking up the crucial wickets of the Indian captain Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

In the meantime, Starc was involved in an on-field banter with Pant. In the penultimate ball of the 167th over, Starc lashed out at Pant for running on the pitch. The lanky pacer dished out a Yorker and Pant creamed the ball through the cover region and gathered a couple of runs. However, while taking the first run, he had to run past the bowler and in the process, he stepped on the danger area.

Starc wasn’t satisfied with Pant’s actions and he complained about the same to the umpire, Ian Gould. The left-arm pacer said, ”He’s f***ing done it again mate.” Then he looked back at Pant and said, “How dumb are ya?!” In the next ball, Starc demonstrated his frustration and fired a bouncer at Pant at a pace of 147.5 kmph. The ball had pace and it hurried Pant to a large extent.

The southpaw pacer was late on the pull shot and managed to send the ball down to fine leg for a single. In his very next over, another short delivery from Starc accounted for Pant’s wicket. Pant mistimed the shot and Usman Khawaja took a good catch at gully.
