West Indies power-hitter Nicholas Pooran once again fell prey to Mitchell Starc’s mastery with the ball, continuing a frustrating trend for the southpaw in T20 cricket. In the latest IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, Starc got the better of Pooran with a delivery that left both the batter and LSG fans stunned.
Pooran, who had been leading the Orange Cap charts not long ago, was dismissed for just 9 off 5 balls, including two boundaries. His dismissal came at a critical juncture in the 12th over, just after LSG lost Aiden Markram for 53. Looking to counterattack, Pooran attempted a pull shot to a short delivery from Starc but only managed an inside edge that crashed into his stumps.

Mitchell Starc’s subtle variation — a slower bouncer — once again proved too clever for the in-form batter. As the stumps lit up, cameras caught LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka visibly distraught in the dugout — a reaction that quickly went viral.

For Pooran, this marked his third consecutive low score, tallying just 28 runs across those outings, stalling what had been a dominant season until recently. His overall IPL 2025 total now stands at 377 runs, slightly ahead of Sai Sudharsan, who is just 40 runs behind. The numbers paint a stark picture of Starc’s dominance over Pooran: the Aussie speedster has now dismissed him five times in just seven T20 meetings, with Pooran managing only 12 runs off 14 balls against him.

In the IPL alone, Mitchell Starc has sent him packing three times in just five deliveries. Only Obed McCoy, another left-arm quick, has dismissed Pooran as many times in T20s. For LSG, Pooran’s form will be key in the final stretch of the season — but solving the Starc puzzle remains a must.
