Mitchell Starc eagers for a ‘good contest’ with Virat Kohli

Veteran Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has said that he is looking forward to the battle with star India batter Virat Kohli during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will begin in November. However, Virat Kohli has been a modern-day great when it comes to the India vs Australia matches as well. His battle with Starc could be one of the important things that could decide the series as well.

Speaking to Star Sports, Starc said that he always has good battles against Kohli and has got him out a couple of times also. The speedster also admitted that Virat Kohli has had success against him during BGT and their battle is something that both men enjoy as well.

“I enjoy my battles with Virat Kohli just because we’ve played a lot of cricket against one another. I always have some good battles. I’ve obviously got him once or twice and he’s no doubt scored a fair few runs against me. So, it’s always a good contest and one we both enjoy,” said Starc.

However, Virat Kohli and Mitchell Starc have faced each other in 19 innings so far with the Indian batter having scored 236 runs from 394 deliveries which came at an average of 59. The Australian pacer has dismissed Kohli 4 times so far as well. While the Australia tour will take place in November, Kohli and India will now be shifting their focus to the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

After he arrived from London, star batter Virat Kohli quickly got back into action, spending nearly 45 minutes in the nets during India’s first training session as well ahead of the two-Test series against Bangladesh, set to begin on September 19. However, Kohli joined his teammates at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, as Team India, led by head coach Gautam Gambhir, started their preparations for the upcoming Test series a week in advance as well.
