Star India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal endured a nightmare start to the Adelaide Test, falling for a golden duck to Mitchell Starc on the very first ball of the match. Facing Starc’s fiery opening delivery, Jaiswal was caught off-guard by a full, swinging ball that proved too good to handle. The delivery, angled in towards the leg stump, swung sharply to target Jaiswal’s off stump.
Attempting a flick towards the leg side, the left-hander completely missed the ball and was struck plumb in front of the stumps. The Australian team immediately appealed, and the umpire wasted little time in raising his finger. Jaiswal briefly consulted with his opening partner KL Rahul regarding the possibility of a DRS review but ultimately chose to walk back to the pavilion.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for the promising young batter, whose dismissal handed Starc the perfect start to the match. This performance starkly contrasted Jaiswal’s recent exploits on Australian soil. In his brief Test career in Australia so far, he has experienced extremes—two ducks and a stunning century.
