Nicholas Pooran showcased his power-hitting prowess in the IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on March 24. The West Indies batter was on the brink of a remarkable century when Mitchell Starc shattered his stumps, bringing an explosive knock to an end.

Mitchell Starc’s delivery, clocking at 140 kmph, was a lethal mix of pace and precision. In the 15th over, the left-arm quick-angled the ball into the stumps, catching Pooran off guard as he attempted an ambitious slog. The ball zipped past his bat, uprooting the stumps and triggering a massive cheer from the crowd.

Mitchell Starc’s celebration reflected the significance of that breakthrough, as Pooran had been tormenting the DC bowlers throughout his innings.

Earlier in the match, DC chose to field first after winning the toss and managed an early breakthrough by dismissing Aiden Markram. However, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran took charge, punishing the Delhi bowlers with a fearless counterattack. While Marsh fell to Mukesh Kumar, Rishabh Pant’s stint at the crease was cut short by Kuldeep Yadav’s clever spin.
