On Monday, June 24, Rohit Sharma narrowly missed a well-deserved century against Australia in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 clash, as he was clean-bowled by Mitchell Starc. This crucial match saw India needing their captain to lead from the front, especially after Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first.

With Kohli back in the pavilion, the responsibility to steer the innings fell squarely on Rohit Sharma’s shoulders. Rising to the occasion, Rohit fired on all cylinders, putting India on the offensive. In the very third over, he showcased his aggressive intent by smashing Mitchell Starc for four sixes and a four, setting the tone for the innings.

By the end of the powerplay, India had surged to 60 runs, with Rohit contributing a blazing 51 off just 21 balls. His aggressive approach continued even after the fielding restrictions were lifted. By the conclusion of the 10th over, India stood at 114 for 2, with Rohit dominating the scorecard at 89 runs from a mere 37 deliveries. His rapid scoring raised hopes of a well-deserved century.

However, Mitchell Starc dashed those hopes in the 12th over. Rohit’s brilliant knock ended at 92 runs off 41 balls, a performance laced with 7 fours and 8 sixes.
