This crucial match saw India needing their captain to lead from the front, especially after Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Virat Kohli’s early departure for a duck in the second over put immediate pressure on the Indian team. With Kohli back in the pavilion, the responsibility to steer the innings fell squarely on Rohit Sharma’s shoulders. Rising to the occasion, Rohit fired on all cylinders, putting India on the offensive. In the very third over, he showcased his aggressive intent by smashing Mitchell Starc for four sixes and a four, setting the tone for the innings.

However, Mitchell Starc dashed those hopes in the 12th over. Rohit’s brilliant knock ended at 92 runs off 41 balls, a performance laced with 7 fours and 8 sixes.
